Our Procedures

We want to understand you, your goals, and what is keeping you from doing what you want to do.

Before a procedure can be considered, we first need to evaluate your condition through a Focused or Comprehensive Sports Medicine Evaluation. This allows us to understand the underlying problem and determine whether a procedure may be an appropriate part of your treatment plan.

We offer a range of procedural options and will help you understand which may be appropriate for your condition, symptoms, and goals.

Corticosteroid Injections

Corticosteroid injections deliver an anti-inflammatory medication to a specific area, such as a joint, bursa, or selected soft-tissue structure. They may be considered for certain conditions where inflammation or pain may respond to an injection.

Trigger-Point Injections

Trigger-point injections involve placing a small amount of medication into selected areas of painful or tight muscle. They may be used as part of a broader treatment plan for certain sources of localized muscular pain.

Aspiration

Aspiration uses a needle to remove fluid from a joint, bursa, or other fluid-filled structure. It may be performed to relieve pressure or discomfort, obtain fluid for laboratory testing, or assist in the evaluation and treatment of certain conditions.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections

Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in joint fluid and connective tissues. Injectable products such as Monovisc may be considered for selected patients with symptomatic joint conditions, particularly knee osteoarthritis.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP is prepared from a small sample of your own blood. The blood is processed to concentrate platelets, which contain proteins and other substances involved in normal tissue responses, and the resulting preparation is injected into the targeted area.

PRP has been studied for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including certain tendon and joint conditions. Ultrasound may be used to identify relevant anatomy and guide needle placement when appropriate.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy uses mechanical sound waves delivered to a targeted area of the body. Both focused and radial forms may be used for selected musculoskeletal conditions, including certain chronic tendon and soft-tissue problems.

Your treatment plan is individualized. The appropriate approach depends on your diagnosis, symptoms, medical history, activity level, and goals. We will discuss the potential benefits, limitations, alternatives, and risks of recommended treatments with you so that you can make an informed decision about your care.

All procedures include the procedure and medication. Ultrasound guidance is included when clinically appropriate

Laboratory Testing and Imaging

Laboratory testing and imaging can be ordered, but are not included in the visit fee unless specifically stated.

When testing is recommended, you may generally choose to use your health insurance or an available self-pay option. Insurance coverage and your final out-of-pocket cost depend on your individual health plan and cannot be predicted by our practice.

When available, we will provide the self-pay price quoted to us by the laboratory or imaging facility so that you can consider your options. We are not able to provide an estimate of your insurance-covered cost because benefits, deductibles, network status, and other plan requirements vary.

Some imaging studies may require insurance prior authorization. Our practice does not manage insurance prior authorizations. If authorization is required, we will let you know and you can decide whether to pursue insurance coverage or use an available self-pay option.

We will discuss recommended testing with you before it is ordered whenever possible, so you can make an informed decision about whether and how you would like to proceed.
